Powerful at all ranges. What it lacks in penetration it makes up for in wounding power, making even those not-quite-perfect shots fatal in most situations.

The 30-06 has a fast reload (lock time) so is an excellent choice for close in shooting where a fast, second shot (or even a third) is required. Long-range shooting with the 30-06 is possible but you need to be sure of that shot: you may end up missing your target completely and scaring it (and everything else in the vicinity - the 30-06 is LOUD!) away for good or you may end up inflicting a non-critical wound and then you're possibly looking at a long track to find the animal to finish off the job.

This rifle is very popular among Roosevelt Elk and Red Deer hunters as it can take out multiple deer from one heard before they vanish into the forest. This rifle is based off of the Winchester Model 1873.
