Cross-Species Scoring is a way to compare the scores from different species with each other. By taking into consideration things like score-spans and species difficulty it allows players to directly compare trophies from different species. In team games, total CSS and highest CSS can be used to compare the scores of teams and individual players in addition to the total harvests count.
The CSS is calculated as follows:
CSS = (Score - Min_Score) / (Max_Score - Min_Score) * 100 * Species_Multiplier
- Score: Normal score of the animal
- Females with a score are calculated the same way as males.
- Min_Score: Rounded value for the lowest possible score for that species
- It may never be achieved in the game.
- Max_Score: Rounded value for the highest possible score for that species
- The max values are estimated from mass generating in EW's TruRACS simulator. Sometimes the max antlers for example cannot be captured when testing, so these max values may differ a bit from what is actually possible in the game.
- For example, the max value for Roosevelt Elk is 436, even though a 443 has been shot in season 24.
- Another example: The max value for Coyote is 60. However the highest possible score for the Coyote is 59.525.
- Species_Multiplier:
- All species have their own multiplier that reflects how difficult they are to hunt.
- For example, pheasants have a low multiplier of 0.4, because pheasants are common and easy to hunt. So the maximal possible CSS for pheasants is just 40.
- Some species have a multiplier over 1.0, because they are not so common and more difficult to hunt.
- For some species male and female have a CSS, which allows for easier scoring. This also lowers their multiplier.
- All of these factors might be subject to change over time.
- Animals with no score (e.g. turkey hens) always result in a CSS of 0.
CSS Values
The values on this table are mostly provided by EW and are theoretical. Max scores can be exceeded in the game. Note that the table can be sorted.
