Animal Scoring Overview
- The scoring of the animals follows real life scoring guidelines such as that of Boone & Crockett.
- You can find the detailed scoring information on the score sheet of every animal. The table below is a simplified description. Click on the animal's score in your hunt statistics or personal best lists to see the scoring details.
- All "lengths" are in inches.
- The "Weight to Score Relation" shows how strong the animal's weight is related to the score, i.e. how likely a heavy weight animal will also have a high score.
- Females of some species have a score, but they will usually score lower. Rabbits are an exception, their females get heavier than males and thus score higher.
- Harvest Value has nothing to do with the scoring of the animals.
- The Cross Species Score ("CSS") value on the harvest screen is explained here.
The following factors do not influence the score of an animal:
- the player's membership status (guest vs. member)
- where you hit the animal (e.g. you cannot damage antlers and thus reduce the score)
- whether you hit a vital organ or not
- the weapon
- the number of hits
- the Harvest Value or any of its components (trophy integrity, wound time)
- the shooting distance

Scoring History
Changes over time
- Antlered species: mostly due to improvements in the racks (various and then TruRACS)
- Generation 4 was introduced for Mule Deer and Blacktail Deer mainly to bump up the racks due to public demand
- Turkey: double bearded birds would consider the length of both beards at first, and was then changed to count the longer beard only
- Coyote: The scoring never changed, but the probability for finding the max weight (27.000kg / 59.525lbs) was greatly reduced in season 9
- Feral Hog and Wild Boar: real size representation of tusks (TruRACS)
- Black Bear: 24.000 was set to be the max after season 8
- In seasons 1-7, there were no decimals in the scores calculated but fractions of eighths. For example the best Blacktail scored 245 6/8. Since season 8 all numbers are calculated with three decimals, and the old numbers are also displayed with three decimals.
Notes to the table
- The current season is not shown. The numbers are only updated after a season has ended.
- TruRACS is a technology that ensures that what is seen in the game is exactly reflected in the score. It is used for most animals, not just for antlered species (racks).
- The best scores for each animal and generation are in bold numbers.
- You can look up when every season started under Seasons.
- Season 18 lasted a few minutes only and is irrelevant for this table.

TruRACS: Simplified Guide for Deer Scoring
The deer scoring in theHunter uses the official Boone and Crockett (B&C) scoring system. This simplified guide from community member MonacoSteve is limited to the major contributing factors which you can well evaluate while out in the field, if you observe your prey carefully. With this guide in mind you should be able to make educated guesses about the value of your trophies.
