Here are some tips that might facilitate the game for new players, or players with hearing or seeing impairment.
Launcher Settings
- There is a setting called "Scene complexity".
- If you set this to low, there is less vegetation which can help with the vision.
- The downside is that you will only see animals and other players up to 220 meters, while "high" would move that distance to 320 meters.

In-Game Settings
- Turn up the volume all the way.
- There is a setting at the bottom of the "Gameplay" options called "Disable flock sounds". Unless you are hunting waterfowl, consider to activate this option to turn off the flock sounds and thus reduce "side noises".
- You can pick you own tracking color. The color selector is in Options - Gameplay.
- The default red might not suit you.
- Pick a color that you think you will see well in all environments. Turquoise for example works well for all maps.
- When you hunt in Whiterime Ridge, consider playing during very early or very late hours to reduce the sun glare. Tracks are much easier to see during these times.
Equipment
- There are sunglasses available in the store that can help increase visibility at times. 😎
- Once equipped, you can press Z (default key) to activate/deactivate them.
- Some players use the yellow glasses practically permanently.
- Some deployable items are small and you might not find them easily anymore once placed.
- Press and hold the button to interact with this item. This will highlight the item.
- For example, press B to highlight an e-caller.
Player Behavior
- After shooting an animal, point with the binoculars where you saw the animal disappear, then click the mouse. This will place a red dot on the map.
- Do not underestimate this feature. The landscape might look easy to remember when looking through a scope, but this is due to less vegetation being shown. Once you get to the actual place, the area will look different and you might not recognize it.
- After shooting an animal, keep holding the mouse button to keep the weapon focused on the animal. This can help you see where it runs.
- If you release the button, the reload animation might shake things up.
- Alternatively, you can turn off auto-reload in the options inside the game.
- Where is my dog?
- Press V (default key) to interact with, but also to highlight your dog. As long as you keep holding it, the dog will have an outline.
- Get a dog GPS to show the dog's position permanently on your HunterMate.
- Use the Pause function
- Sometimes things get very busy and you might feel a sense of stress from what you should do next.
- Get used to pause the game in such a situation. Take your time to think what you should do next, what animal you should focus on, what buttons to press, etc.
- The pause function is only possible in single player though.
